Lovenox and Epidural During Pregnancy: Safety & Considerations

I am 28 years old and am currently 37 weeks pregnant. I have no living children and my last menstrual period was November 23rd 2004. I have been on Lovenox for the entire pregnancy due to a blood clotting disorder that caused previous miscarriages. I am scheduled for an induction next week. My OB says that being "off" the Lovenox for 24 hours is sufficient for an epidural. What do you think?

As long as you have an adequate number of platelets (over 85,000) the anesthesiologist will have no problem in giving you an epidural anesthesia, whether you are still on the Lovenox or have been off for 24 hours. Just check on your platelets when you are admitted to L&D.
