Cervical Length 2.0cm at 30 Weeks: Understanding Procardia & Pelvic Rest

Question
Hi My name is Toya and I am 30 weeks 5 days pregnant. Last week at my doctor's appointment I got a cervial ultra sound which showed an opening in my cervix and my cervix only measured 2.0cm. The ultra sound tech said if she measured from the top into the opening she would put me at 2.5cm. Shocked at what I just saw I then spoke to my doctor who then advised me to take procardia 60mg twice a day (which I was already on once a day). And pelvic rest which I been on since 11 weeks. I am really nervous because the medication has not stopped my contractions. Should I be worried?

Answer
Toya,
Yes, you should be worried if contractions have not stopped. You should call your doctor or go to the hospital if you are still contracting. He can try a different type of medication. It sound like your doctor is doing everything he should be doing also. Does he have you on bedrest as well? You should be if he hasn't. Good luck to you.
