Tubal Ligation Record Discrepancy: Late Period & PCOS Concerns
QuestionHello
I am a 37 year old with a 6 six year old when I had him in 1999 I had a tubal. I do have PCO so I have been taking BCP for this since 1999 last July when I went in for my annual my OB/GYN said since I was over 35 I could now stop taking the BCP since they may have been causing some of my leg swelling related to my HTN. While looking through my chart he asked me about pregnancy I told him he had a done a tubal and he said he had no record of it but said if he told my husband he did it then he did it. I went off the pill and had a normal monthly period August through January 5. I have not had a period since and I am a little worried but don't want to get myself all excited about nothing.
My question is could I be preganant with no period since January 5th or could it be the PCO causing problems again.
AnswerHI Melissa,
it is certainly strange that the doc has no record or recollection of a surgery, go to the hospital and they should have a record of it if it was done. YOu are allowed to get your records. THe answer to your question is it also depends on the type or tubal done. If he only cut and tied them, yes pregnancy is possible, but if he cut, took a piece of the tube and sealed the ends, then it is slim but I suppose still possible. Get the records. Take a pregnancy test and see what you get, let me know.
