Irregular Periods & Fertility Concerns: What To Do After Ectopic Pregnancy

Question
Hello I am 32. I have no birth children. I had my last period on June 28th. I am usually regular and get my period every 26/27 day. My problem is in March of 2001 I had an ectopic pg. I have taken several hpt and they have come up negative. My gyn moved out of town so I do not currently have one. And a couple of months ago we had to cancel our health insurance due to paying an enormous amount every month for insurance. I'm not sure what I should do. I don't have any symptons except being a little tired. With my last ectopic pg I had sharp pains on my side.  Please advise me as to what I should do.

Answer
Since you are now 24 days late for your period, if you do not get your period by August 21, wait seven days and take a pregnancy test. If it is positive, you will have to go to a gynecologist (or a hospital) and take two HCG tests 48 hours apart. If the value is less than 5, you are not pregnant (either in your uterus or in your tubes). If there is a doubling of the results in 48 hours, you are having a viable pregnancy in the uterus. If the results are dropping or plateau (stay the same), it may be another ectopic and you should be examined by a gynecologist.
