Understanding Early Pregnancy Loss & Dilation and Curettage (D&C)
QuestionI was 3 months pregnant Sunday, March 6, 2005. I went to my doc. the next day to see if my twins were identical or fraternal. That same day we found, through regular ultrasound, that their hearts were not beating. They did not use sound, the dopler to track the blood flow of the babies, and they didn't do any blood tests on me. They automatically scheduled me for a d & c which just occurred Wenesday March 9, 2005. Is this normal? I mean shouldn't they have checked the dopler and sound and my blood to make absolutely 100% sure? I need to know this because I asked for the above, and they refused me. I also need to know because I can't help feeling that I allowed them to abort my two beautiful babies because I was intimidated by them. Please help me!

AnswerHI Sarah,
actually never allow anyone to intimidate you into doing anything you don't want or want. As for your case, I am not sure what happened but usually US is the most conclusive test because you can actually see what you are looking for in this case the heartbeat, whereas sometimes doppler can be misleading with other noises or interferences. I am so sorry for your loss.
