QuestionI AM ABOUT 6 WEEKS PREGNANT WHEN I FOUND OUT I WAS PREGNANT MY HCG LEVEL WERE 36 THEY FOUND AN OVARIANCYST ON MY RIGHT SIDE BUT NO SIGHT OF PREGNANCY. THEY HAD ME COME BACK EVERY TWO DAYS TAKE MY HCG LEVELS. ALL THE TIMES I WENT BACK MY HCG LEVELS TRIPLED WITCHED IS GOOD I AM GUESSING? THEY ALSO HAD ME COME BACK FOR ANOTHER ULTRASOUND THEY FOUND THAT MY UTERUS WAS FILLING WITH FLUID. WITH ALL THAT I HAVE SAID DOSE IT SEEM THAT I WILL HAVE A NORMAL PREGNANCY? ALSO WILL I BE ABLE TO HAVE A GOD PREGNANCY WITH THE OVARIANCYST?
AnswerChelsey,
Ok, I am going to do my best to answer your questions, although I am not very clear on several things! (I can be a little slow on the uptake!) HCG levels going up is always a good sign, I don't know how far along you were when you found out - but 36 would be normal for about 12 days past ovulation (however the numbers vary widely so this is just a guess.) The important thing is that they increase by at least 70% every 48 hours and double every 72 hours.
Cysts are also fairly common during pregnancy and are only a concern if they get too big. If they do, a laproscopic surgery can be performed in the second trimester to remove the cyst. Usually without any risk to the baby.
My concern with what you are saying is the failure to see a gestational sac on ultrasound (although I don't know how far along you were when you had your ultrasounds) Gestational sacs should be present in the uterus by 5 weeks and you should see a heartbeat by 6weeks and 3 days.
If this is not seen, and the fact that you say your uterus is "filling with fluid" concerns me of a possible ectopic pregnancy.
I hope that your doc is following you closely and that you have another ultrasound scheduled very soon?
Please keep me updated!
Good luck- Tandi
