QuestionI'm 11 weeks pregnant. From weeks 4 thru 7 I had severe cramping. It stopped and immediately I began spotting (weeks 7 to now). My doc told me not to have sex. The spotting is always worse after doing a lot of housework, cooking, walking, etc. When I rest, I'm fine. The 7 wk ultrasound showed a heartbeat and fetal pole, so she said she wasn't really worried.
What are a few possible causes for the spotting, and is it something I should be concerned about?
AnswerAs long as there was a fetal heartbwat on sonogram and there was adequate growth of the baby, you should not worry. It is common to have some spotting in early pregnancy. This can be due to some "old" blood that was in the uterus and is being pushed out as the fetus is growing. Don't worry as long as you are not having heavy vaginal bleeding.
