Ovulation Testing Accuracy & Trying to Conceive - A Guide

Question
My husband and I are trying to conceive our 2nd child. I took the patch off 04/20/05. I know this is very soon. However I had my period on 04/24/05 and I bought an ovulation test. We would like to get a headstart and I was wondering how accurate they are. I figured since my cycle is going to take awhile I thought I could try this first. Also I don't know if its by luck however our first child was a oops. Only two days missed pill. I wasn't sure if that meant I was fertal or if it was just by chance. Thanks

Answer
If your last period started on April 24, then you probably will ovulate around May 7. I would suggest that you concentrate on having intercourse on May 6,7,8, and 9 this month. The ovulation test should confirm this by indication of the LH surge around those dates. If you do become pregnant, a pregnancy test will not show a positive result until 14-21 days later. The best time to take a pregnancy test is seven days after you miss your next period.
