Understanding Early Pregnancy Termination Options: Safety and Considerations

Question
My girlfriend just took a blood exam to find she's 3 weeks pregnant. We'd like to stop this, and the most "famous" option is Cytotec.

She's 23 and weights 110lb.

Since she's pregnant for only 3 weeks I was wondering if it is safer and the internal bleeding can be avoided.

Thank you!

Answer
Hi John :)

Well just make sure she knows all the options she has

here's some basic info and resources: http://www.womenonwaves.org/set-274-en.html

Usually the earliest I see most clinics doing a surgical is 5 weeks, but I've never seen what the minimum should be for the medical (like cytotec). Make sure to read the link I gave you, I think it will take care of most if not all of your questions. Side effects that are harmful are rare, but you'll know they're occurring and to get help ASAP. The one thing you can absolutely be sure of is to make sure she takes it before 8 weeks. I bet it is safe right now, but there's a possibility that it will fail (not a huge possibility, but still there). Waiting 1 week may be preferable, but if you get the medication from a doctor, they will advise you the best.
