Delayed Birth Control Pill Start: Effectiveness & Options
QuestionI am 23 years old..0 children and the first day of my last menstrual cycles started on sunday 6/26/05
ok...i just picked up my birth control pills however, i was supposed to start them on sunday so i am already behind..the pharmacist told me that if i don't want to double up cause it makes me very sick..then to start next sunday..but they won't be as effective. but...this is a new brand that i have never taken before (orthnovum 777) and it has the dial i guess...where you're supposed to turn it everyday after you take a pill..well...i was trying to see how it works while reading the directions and turned the dial..not realizing i can't go backwards...the arrow was on sunday but now it's on monday and i can't go back..what do you recommend doing since i will already be starting my pack a week late anyways? thanks for all your input!
AnswerJust remember that if you did not start the pills on time, you may ovulate on cycle day #14 from the first day of your period. It would be better to throw away the pack and start fresh. If you do not take them until next Sunday, you will not be protected and may ovulate this month. Orthonuvum 777 is excellent but most be taken sequentially. It is better to start on a Sunday, but that is not critical as long as you take every pill in the pack. I would suggest that you use a supplentary method of birth control untli next month (condoms, etc) to be sure until you are back on track.
