Yasmin Side Effects & Irregular Bleeding: A Doctor's Answer

Question
hi! thanks for your time, i have a few questions..
-i just started yasmin and have been bleeding since my period (about 10 days, reduced to spotting and the occasional brown blob) is this normal?
- i take the pills a few hours apart each day. will the hormone levels in me drop too low and cause me to randomly ovulate because the time between pills is too long? or would my body stay on the normal pattern and ovulate in the middle of the month as normal if the pill should fail? also should i have a period this month since theres been so much breakthrough bleeding?
-i also have a quick concern (im terribly sorry if this is too detailed, feel free to skip it if it is..) i had a sexual encounter about a week after the pills started. there was no penetration of any kind, but a small amount of rubbing on the outside of the vagina. im concerned that pre-ejaculate could have some way caused a pregnancy. if it were present, it was a very small amount.
i thank you very very much for your patience and consideration.. these subjects have been bothering me greatly and i needed some advice.
thanks again! sincerely- Kris

Answer
Birth control pills work by preventing ovultion. If you wee not taking the Yasmin, you would ovvulate around cycle day #14 each month. By taking the pills, you will not ovulate anad cannot become pregnant. You must take one pill every day. It does not matter when during the day you take the pill. You only take one pill in one day. You should not take a pill a few hours a day. You should only take it once a day.If you had sex a week after the pills started, you are probably protected. You did not mention the date oof your last period or when you had sex,so I can't comment completely.
