Normally, I am one of the blessed women who only get their period for a few days. Typically, I get mine for 2 to 3 days, it stops for a day, and comes back for a day, and then its done. This period is different though, I got it for 5 full days (very heavy) and then for two days after I got a kind of brownish (dried blood?)discharge that I usually get at the end of my period (typically I get that for a couple of hours...not a couple of days)...but...today is day 9 and I've been spotting for a day and a half. My period came on the 21st of June, and previously on May 22...so its on time...my boyfriend and I have had unprotected intercourse in the time between my periods. Should I worry about pregnancy? Or is this my body just changing? Any advice you can offer would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!

If you have not missed a period, you are not pregnant. A period is considered normal if it lasts less than 14 days. It can last 3 days or 5 days or 10 days. It can start and stop. It can be red on some days and brown on later days. Don't worry about pregnancy. If you have not missed your period, you are not pregnant.
AnswerIt is quite impossible to have your period while you are pregnant, because a period is the sloughing off of the endometrium. When a fetus implants into the endometrium, the endometrium (the inner lining of the uterus) cannot be sloughed off and, therefore, you cannot have a "period". HOwever, it is, indeed, possible to have bleeding during pregnancy. I think that your mother probably bled for a few months while she was pregnant, but it was not her period, even if it lasted for several days at a time.
