Clomid and Menstrual Cycle: Understanding Effects & HCG Results
QuestionI have been taking clomid and wonder if this will delay your menstrual cycle? I am usually every 26 days and past due. My hcg came back negative but had a positve HPT. Why would one come back + and the other -?
AnswerClomid will not interfere with your menstrual cycle. Clomid merely enhance the possibility of ovulation. If you had a positive home pregnancy test but a quantative HCG was negative (less than 5), you may have done the HPT incorrectly. The lines have to be bold and dark and must appear within minutes. If you have any doubts, take two Beta HCG tests (blood), 48 hours apart.. If there is a doubling of the results in 48 hours, it indicates a viable pregnancy. If there is a halving of the results in 48 hours, it indicates a miscarriage. If the results are both less than 5 you were never pregnant.
