QuestionHi, i have had irregular periods since 15, but on the more brighter side, i get my period like once a year and now its on it has been on since Jan.13-2010 and my dr prescribed me 30 Provera pills and I've been taking them and i have about 15 more to go. Im not even sure when to take the clomid or even when im ovulating or when to have intercourse with my husband. Im so confused and i probably confused u also, but can you help me please, this clomid i heard is serious.
AnswerHello Jessica from the U.S.,
The fact that you have few periods per year is a sign that your ovaries are not functioning correctly. It is INCORRECT for your doctor just to give you Clomid tablets. You need to seek out a new doctor, and preferably a fertility specialist. Don't leave your fertility health to someone who is not expert in evaluating and dealing with the problems!
You need to have hormonal testing to evaluate and make sure that you don't have some major problem with your ovaries, pituitary, hypothalamus or thyroid. The treatment has to be specific for the problem. Yes, Clomid can correct the problem in women who have an ovulatory dysfunction, but this is not the only reason why women have irregular cycles! Your doctor is not even treating your bleeding problem correctly. 30 tablets of Provera? I have never heard of such a treatment protocol.
Please go see a fertility specialist. You can known the person is a fertility specialist because they do ALL LEVELS of fertility care and treatments. If the person does not do IUI and IVF, then they are not a fertility specialist but someone dabbling in infertility. That is NOT the person you want to see. You will need the expertise of a fertility specialist to help you achieve pregnancy.
