Vulvar Lump After CIN 2 & HPV Diagnosis: Causes & What to Expect

Question
24 years old, 2 children lmp 21st July

I have today been diagnosed with CIN 2 & HPV and am due to undergo LEEP in the near future.

In the meantime, I have noticed a lump in my vulva.  It is on the right hand side, on the labia majora, to the side of my clitoris just below the pubic mound.  There appears to be no evidence of any changes on the skin surface.  The lump feels slightly fleshy and moves around to a certain degree.  It is around the size of a large peanut. It is slightly tender to the touch.

My question is, could this lump be related to the CIN or to the HPV?  And should I get this checked as a matter of urgency or wait and see if it goes away?

Also,  I wondered whether CIN/HPV have any links to re-occuring BV which I suffer from terribly.

Also, due you know of any alternative treatment for BV as I do not react well to metranidazole and have therefore stopped seeing my GP about it.

I would be grateful for any help you may be able to provide.

Many thanks

Michelle

Answer
The lump on your vulva is not related to the changes in your cervix that gave you a diagnosis of CIN 2. However, if you have HPV, the lump may be the beginnings of a condyloma, which is seen in people with HPV. It is not a matter of urgency, but the next time you see your gynecologist, or when you go for your LEEP procedure, have someone take a look at it. Bacterial vaginosis is not related to CIN or HPV, but if you do not do well with metranidazole, try Clindacin cream.(Cleocin ).
