Shared Period Pain: Is it Possible?
QuestionI am in a lesbian relationship. My girlfriend and I have been together for nearly three years. We are very close. I suffer from PCOS and get some pain when i get my period. My Girlfriend gets extreme pain and sickness when she gets her period. Over the last six or seven months i have noticed that when my girlfriend gets her period, i also get her pains! they are in the same place as she gets them and at the same time that she gets them. Is this an actual known medical problem? Is there any thing that i can do about this? It doesnt seem fair to me that i should get two weeks worth of pain out of a month! I would be grateful for any information you can provide me with.
AnswerIt has been noticed (in college sororieties, women's clubs, army platoons) that women who live together or are very close, seem to get their periods at the same time or have dysmenorrhea (painful periods) at the same time. This has not been explained, but is found to be true. However, if you are getting pain even when you do not have your period, and it is unresponsive to ibuprefen (motrin, advil, ponstel, etc) then you should be evaluated by a gynecologist to see if anythin else is wrong.
