Early Pregnancy Symptoms & Possible Signs - What to Watch For
QuestionI am 31, I have 5 children, and my las MP was Nov 12 unless you count the 3 day bleed from Dec 11 to 14th... I have been charting my BBT, CM and CP for apprx 3 months now. I was late this cycle and test with a home hpt on Dec 10, it was neg. Menustration started on Dec 11 and contintued until Dec 14th, 3 days afterwards I started with ovulation predictor test, and they were all positive. My co-worker (LPN) suggested for me to take another pg test, and it was positive. Three more tests were positive, so I requested a quanaitve beta yesterday. I recieved the results this morning (75) and my midwife/teacher tells me she believes I have already miscarried. I do not believe this to be true, since I got the positive hpt after the bleed and not before... I have read that a "normal" period is possible when conception occurs close to menustration, can you please shed some light on this issue, I'm very scared and worried... thank you
AnswerIf your last period started on November 12, you would have ovulated around November 25 and, if you got pregnant around that time, a pregnancy test would not show a positive result until December 9-16. If you got a Beta HCG result on 75 yesterday, it may be rising or falling. I would not assume that you miscarried at this time. Take another HCG test 48 hours later and see if there is a doubling or a halving of the result in 48 hours. A doubling of the result usually indicates a viable pregnancy. A halving indicates a miscarriage.
