False Positive Pregnancy Test: Causes, Symptoms & What to Do

Question
Hello..I hope that you might be able to help me out.  In April I had to go to a local ER for a stomach ailment as I do not have any type of insurance and because of prior chest pain and such they did a lot of blood work.  I am 53 years old and had a two part hysterectomy..my uterus in 1979/80 and ovaries 1990/91.  To make a long story short, by some weird reasoning the hospital did a pregnancy test (2 times even) and both came back positive.  They had a GYN doctor see me before I could leave and he called it something but for the life of me I cannot remember what is might be.  He said that there was a possibility that because a lot times there is tissue left when they do a vaginal hyst (which is how I had it done) that the positive test could be a marker for cancer.  Can you explain any of this to me?  Any help that you might be able to provide would be greatly appreciated.

Answer
jan;

well didnt they ask you when your last menstrual cycle was?
they sould have never done any of these tests,what a waste of money there!!!!!!!!
theres no way you would still have any tissue left,what the hell was he talking about. its kinda funny,but makes me mad........

well just because you had a hysterectomy,if would be best every 3-5 years to have a rountine vaginal exam and have a
simple of your vaginal cells,for testing to check for cancer cells.

i am sorry you had to deal with all the bull,i hope you feel bettere;
