Trying to Conceive After Birth Control: Cycle and Timing
QuestionI am currently 21. I have no children, my husband and I have decided(Mispelled?) it is time to start a family. I was on Ortho-tri-cyclien(Spelling?)since April of 2002, then Last year I switched to the Patch. So for about 3 years I have been on birth control, and I was suppose to start my new box of patches on Dec. 18th. but we decided to try to get preg. The First day of my period was on Dec. 12th but it was only half of the day then really started on the 13th. I am still on my cylce but it is spoty. Is this normal? And should I try to concieve the dates of Dec.24-28? And do you think it will be harder to conceive because of the Birth control? I Guess I am just full of Questions, I just don't know and I need to know So Thank you.
AnswerIf you stopped the patch and started your period on December 12, you probably ovulated on December 25 and can conceive if you have sex on December 24,25,26, ot 27. If you do become pregnant at that time, a pregnancy test will not show a positive result until 14-21 days later. The best time to take a pregnancy test will be seven days after missing your next period. The patch should not make it harder to conceive. Once it is off, the hormones leave your body.
