Abdominal Pain & Bleeding in Early Pregnancy: What to Expect

Hi,
  I am six weeks pregnant. I went to the emergency room yesterday due to some abdominal pain and light bleeding. They did an ultrasound and told me that they saw some blood behind the placenta. Am I going to have a miscarrage?

Answer
It is possible that you could misscarry but sometimes the blood behind the placenta can resolve itself.  Just watch the cramping and bleeding and take it easy.  Try and rest and drink lots of fluids in the next couple of days.  I hope everything works out.
