Feeling Your Uterus at 9 Weeks Pregnant: What to Expect
QuestionI am 28 years old and pregnant with my fourth child. My last period was on Feb 8th, and I am 9 1/2 weeks pregnant. I swear I can feel the top of my uterus about 1 inch above my pubic bone, and I am showing some already. I am a fraternal twin and my husband is an identical twin and I am always wary about this chance during pregnancy. Am I crazy or is it possible to feel the uterus this early with twins?
AnswerAt 9 weeks gestation, you can, indeed, feel the top of the uterus at the loevel (or above) the top of the pubic bone. It may still be difficult to hear a fetal heartbeat with a doppler stethoscope.Since you are a fraternal twin, it is always possible for you to have a slightly higher chance of a twin pregnancy, but it is a bit early for a sonogram to be accurate at this time. However, if you are carrying a twin pregnancy, a sonogram will show if you indeed have more than one baby. An identical twin is a mutation and is not familial. Good Luck.
