Understanding Fetal Movement: Location and Position in Pregnancy
QuestionHi,
I was just wondering-
I am 22 weeks pregnant and although I am feeling a lot of movement and kicking over the past few weeks, it is all in the lowest region of my abdomen, about 5 inches below my bellybutton would be the best way I could describe it. My question is, does this mean that the baby is breach sitting head up? Or could the movement I'm feeling be from his or her arms? I know at my last sonogram at 19 weeks it was breach but the doctors said the baby would flip around many times at this stage of the pregnancy. I guess I'd like to know at what point does the baby stay in the position it will be in at birth, whatever that may be.
Any information would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
AnswerAt this stage of pregnancy, the baby is moving around alot and does not stay in one particular position or another. The movement is due to arms and legs, summersaulting, rolliing, etc. The baby will not get into a position where it stays until around 38 weeks gestation. Don't worry.
