Skipping Your Period: Safety & Considerations for Birth Control Users
QuestionI am 22 years old and am getting married September 1st, which unfortunately falls on the third day of my period. I having been on birth control for about three years now. I currently am taking Sprintec. I was wondering how to and if it would be safe to skip my period so I do not get it for my wedding. I wasn't really sure how to go about doing this, or if it would negatively effect my cylce. Also is this something I should start a month or so in advance to assure that I would not get my period for my wedding?
AnswerIf you have been on the birth control for three years, all you have to do is wait for your period in July and start the new pack at your normal time. Then, when you take pill #21, on the next day start a new pack. You can continue this way (take 1-21 and then start a new pack) until you want to have a period. When you do, merely stop the pills and you should get a period within 6 days. Ig will not cause any difficulties with your cycle.
