Post-Hysterectomy Bleeding & Pain: Potential Endometriosis?

Question
Hi Martha,
I had a partial hysterectomy in 1983. Then in 2001, I had the right ovary removed, making it complete. At the time of both surgeries, I had endometriosis and scar tissue.
For about a month, I have had a fowl odor, almost like a sweaty smell. Also, for about a week I have had sharp pains in the lower left side. This morning, I was spotting some. This is the first time I have had any bleeding, since the surgery. Could this be a sign that the endo has returned?
I started seeing a new primary care physician in April of this year. She told me that I still have part of my cervix.  My mother was diagnosed with stage 2 cervical cancer in 2001. She passed the same year. Should I be concerned about that possibility?
I am making an appointment with my physician ASAP.
In the meantime, anything that you may have to offer as far as info or suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Thanks for your time

Answer
Dear Avis,
I am terribly sorry I am so late in responding to you message, I was out of town all week for work.
I am glad you are getting to the doctors ASAP. Yes, endo can still be on your cervix. As a matter of fact, I have talked with women who have had radical hysterectomies and still have endo.
I too, had cervical cancer when I was 25. I still have all my parts...altho, I had a major surgery, where they removed the lining of my cervix. This eliminated all the cancerous cells. It was called a conization. The cells were gone, but the endo stayed with me for years to follow.
Because cervical cancer is prevalent in your family, I would consider surgery again...but its best to hear what the doctor says.
Good luck to you and if you get the time, please let me know how you do! Thanks
Martha
