Persistent Spotting & Irregular Periods: Possible Causes & What to Do
QuestionI am 23. I do not have children. My last period was about 8 months ago this time. My last period lasted about 11 days. I am not pregnant. I had a sonogram 2 years ago, and there were "small cyst" found in my ovaries. I had a UTI a few months after that. Since my last period 8 months ago, I have only spotted occasionally. But for the past month, I have been spotting very little amounts of blood every single day. It's been 30 days spotting straight. What is wrong with me?
AnswerWhen was the first day of your last period 8 months ago. If you have been spotting for the last month, every day, you have to ask your doctor to give you Provera 10mg twice a day for 5 days and you should first bleed heavliy and then stop bleeding. You may then have to go on birth control pills until your cycle is regulated. It is not likely that you still have small cysts on your ovaries. (Birth control pill will get rid of any cysts you might have. Nothing is wrong with you.
