Understanding Spotting During Your Cycle: Causes & When to Worry

Question
I have been spotting a very slight amount for 2 days.  This is the time I would expect to have my period.  I have been going through a major life change and have lost 15 pounds or so in the past 2 months.  Could this be causing the spotting?  I thought stress/weight loss would cause my period to be late or not show at all versus having spotting?  Could I be pregnant?

Answer
As long as you are showing some blood (even if it is miniscule), if it is coming at the time you are expecting your period, we have to assume it is, indeed, your period. If you believe that you might have conceived two weeks ago, take a blood test for pregnancy, twice, 48 hours apart. If there is a doubling of the results in 48 hours, it indicates pregnancy. If the value of the blood test is less than 5mu, you are not pregnant.
