Low & Slowly Rising hCG Levels: Miscarriage Concerns & Ultrasound Results

Question
I m 20 yrs old and have one 18 month old son. My last period was on April 11th 06. But it was a very early miscarriage. I fould out I was pregnant on the 6th of April. I went to the ER on the 12th with spotting and hcg level was taken and was 48. 2 days later I went back and was only at 70. 2 more days later it was 87 and now today it was 95. I m still spotting but have no signs of an ectopic pregnancy. I was given an ultrasound on the 16th and nothing was seen but a few small cysts on an ovary. Is there some chance that my levels could just be slowly rising and turn out to continue on with pregnancy or should I give up since all the tests have shown very little rising?    Follow-up: I ended up going to the ER on Friday the 19th passing clots. They said it looks like a miscarriage but then in one day my hcg levels went up the most they ever have in two days. from the 95 to 119. And I don t understand what that is supposed to mean now.

Answer
If your last period started on April 11, you would have ovulated on April 24 and could have conceived on April 10,11,12, or 13. If you had a period on April 11 you could not have been  pregnant on April  6. If the HCG value on April 12 was 48 and if the HcG value on April 14  was 70. and on April 16 it was  87  and then 95 it is a good sign, although it should be doubling every 48 hours. The best time to take a pregnancy test is seven days after missing youor period. You were due for your period on May 8. Therefore, the most accurate time to take a pregnancy test is after May 15. Take a  pregnancy test now and see what it shows.
