Conceiving with One Fallopian Tube: Chances & Timeline
QuestionI have been trying to conceive for a while now, I recently had surgery in November 2007 due to a ectopic pregnancy and lost one of my tubes, will there be a chance for me to conceive with only one tube and how soon would it take? Is there anything that I can do differ to help?"
AnswerDear Courtney,
Yes, you can still conceive with one open and functioning Fallopian tube. Unfortunately, there is no way to be able to estimate when this will occur for you - I wish I could. I can tell you that even couples who have no fertility obstacles at all average 5-6 months/cycles of actively trying to conceive before they actually do. So... try to be patient.
There really is nothing to do "differently". :-) Just continue to try to conceive during the 7-10 days leading up to when you suspect you will be ovulating and a day or two afterwards (just in case). I usually suggest every other day sex during this time to allow for any variation in your ovulation day and to give your partner's body a chance to rebuild his sperm stores.
I hope this has helped you and answered your questions. I wish you well.
