Mucus Plug Loss at 35 Weeks: What to Expect?

Question
Hello I am 35 weeks pregnant I went to the doctor monday I was hurting in my lower right abdomen and in my back he checked me and said I had already completely lost my mucas plug and he could feel the babys head but I hadn't started to dilate. I live about an hour and a half from the hospital can you please tell me if you think the baby will come in the next couple weeks and will this pain go away or will it stay the rest of my pregnancy? Thank you

Answer
You can start to go labor within 5 weeks from the loss of your mucus plug, or you can go  even longer. When you start having contractions at the level of your belly button, that are every 3 minutes (from the start of one contraction to the start of the next contraction) and each contraction lasts 1 minute, call your doctor and come to the hospital to be checked. If, of course, your water breaks, come to the hospital.
