Twin Pregnancy: Concerns About Small Baby Size - What To Do?

Question
I am expecting twins.  Since my first appt with my reg. ob/gyn I thought their estimated due date was a little off.  I am also seeing a prenatologist now.  My last ultrasound he was concerned that the babies are measuring 2 weeks smaller than they should.  He said he was going to check with my ob to see if the original dates were written down wrong.  Should I be concerned?  Should I call my ob?  My prenatologist is the best in this area, but hard to talk too.  I am scheduled to do my glucose test next week, but what if I am not in the 24-28 week range they want?  Thank you in advance for your response.

Answer
Stacey,

What makes you think the dates are wrong?  Do you think you aren't as far along as your OB thinks you are?  I think if there is a question about your dates, then you shouldn't be concerned about their size unless other things aren't developing normally.  It sounds like the babies looked okay, except for their size.  I think you can rest easy that things are going okay.  If you were positive about your dates and they were still measuring small, then maybe you could be a little concerned.  But, since there is a question, the babies may be the size they should be at this point in time.  How many weeks will you be next week when you to the glucose tolerance test?  Doing it early won't hurt the babies at all, it is just most accuarted during weeks 24-28.  I hope this helps.  Try not to worry.  Let me know what the discrepency is with the dates!
