Understanding Your Period After Birth Control & Starting New Medication
QuestionI took my very last pill of Yasmin on January 29 and started my period on January 30th. I wanted to get off birth control at the time because I was sick of feeling so "blah", but now I realize that I am not comfortable having sex with my boyfriend while only using condoms. My doctor prescribed me a lower dose bc pill LoEstrin. I know I should wait to start my period to take these new pills, but I'm not exactly sure when that will be since my cycle is out of whack from stopping the last ones! I don't know if I should just start them now or wait until my period starts? Then again, that could be a month or two from now! Any suggestions?
AnswerHi Kate,
Thanks for your question. I'm glad that you are concerned about your cycle and birth control pills. A lot of women just take them not even thinking, which is what happened to me several years ago. I did not know the side effects and how the pill worked. More women should educate themselves.
Anyway, I'm not so sure what to say about the doctor putting you on a lower dose. Let me know if you did start your period and did you start taking the new pills. It is interesting that you had the side effect of being "blah" from the hormonal birth controls. Most women have some side effect(s) but don't realize it's from the hormones. So if you would like to talk more, just email me at DCHERYL51@yahoo.com and I'll look forward to hearing from you.
Sincerely,
Diane Cheryl
