QuestionI was suppose to have my period on Aug 8th - I took a hpt today (10th) and it was positive. I have been on the pill for over 10 years and stopped taking the pill after my last period. My doctors have suspected that I had PCOS in the past and put me on the pill. Is there any chance that I couldn't be pregnant?
AnswerDear Susan,
If you have had unprotected sex during the last cycle (especially between cycle days 11-17) and had a positive pregnancy test 2 days after a missed period, I would say you are probably pregnant.
False positives on pregnancy tests are very unusual. Research has indicated that certain medications may increase hCG levels, but if you are not on any medications, I would say you have become pregnant - PCOD or not.
I would suggest that you schedule an appointment with your doctor. He/she will then do a quantitative blood pregnancy test to get an actual amount of hCG in your bloodstream to confirm the pregnancy and will probably order an initial ultrasound.
I hope this information has helped you and answered your question. I wish you well!
