Pregnancy After Multiple C-Sections: Risks & Limitations

Question
Hello I'm a 33 yrs old mom who has had 4 c-sections my  youngest is 4 yrs.old
I like to know if is true they said that if i was to become pregnat again it would be very risky?
what is the max of c-section a woman can have?

Answer
HI Lucy,

Every doctor will tell you something different about how many c sections a woman can have, so I dont really have an answer for you on that one... I know many women who have had three c's; I assume if you got pregnant with your 5th it would have to be delivered by c section regardless of the risks.

I do believe that with each c-section you do develop more and more risks, there is scar tissue already existing. So it does get riskier and riskier. I know some docs will perform a VBAC (vaginal birth after C) but I do not know if they will do this once you have had so many sections. I think a VBAC is out of the question with 4 previous C's, the risk of uterine rupture is too high.

So, yes it would be risky, but pregnancy itself is risky; if you really want the 5th baby you should discuss this with your doctor. I am sure there are women out there who have had multiple C's and been just fine.  I just had one in June with the surrogate baby and I hated it!!!!

Good luck... I hope you get the answer you want!~
