QuestionI went into the emergency room two nights ago with pretty regular contractions. I'm 24 weeks pregnant today. Well, they watched me for a couple of hours and sent me home with orders for bedrest. Well all day today my stomach has been rock hard and super tight. I've had a few contractions on and off all day but that was it. Is this something to be worried about? My stomach was never this tight when I was pregnant with my daughter. I'm very concerned.
AnswerHi Carrie,
Congratulations on your pregnancy... and I am sorry you re on bed rest!!!!
The hardness sounds just like Braxton hicks, I had these for MONTHS this last pregnancy. I was told if I had these, to shift my position, and drink lots of water. If they went away it was Braxtons. Usually the position shifting did the trick, I didnt believe it would work but it did!
Are you dilating? did they give you any sort of medicine to stop the contractions? This does not necessarily mean you will deliver a preemie by the way. One of my surrogate friends here had early contractions with her own son years ago and was given meds to stop the contractions, and she carried that baby full term.
Good luck! I hope you get lots of rest and things go smoothly.
