QuestionI am a 38 year old female with 1-21 year old daughter. I have been on birth control since after my daughters birth. A few years(4) ago my birth control pills were changed to OrthoCyclen. Usually I am almost finished with my pill pack and about to start a new pack when my period starts(Friday pm-Sat am). Usually I have stopped bleeding by Mon pm. Periods range from light to moderate bleeding. I did accidentally take two of the bleeding pills(last ones in pack) in one day about two months ago(thought I had missed taking it and took another by mistake). I had a normal period last month but I should have started my period for this month Friday. I had a very, very light amount of bleeding Sat pm. Only when I wiped, not enough to even get onto pad. Also 2 times on Sunday this same thing occured. I have not had sex in the past month. I am at a loss as to what the problem could be.
AnswerHi lisa :)
Well, if you didnt have sex through the month, then we can definately rule out pregnancy.
I think what you are experiencing, is just a irregular month. But this isnt uncommon when being on the pill. Occassionaly, we can get short spotty periods. But it is alarming, when we are certainly used to a usual type bleeding.
Infact, some women, whom are on the pill, will have very heavy bleeds, the opposite situation as you.
Its all in your hormones lisa..the slightest imbalance can do these things. As long as your are spotting, even if its just on a tissue, its still considered a period, when you are on the pill. I am sure next month, things will have returned to normal.
The 2 pills you were susposed to take during your period time, would have no influence at all on this. The pills that you take, when you are on your period are placebo's, and contain absolutely no hormone.
So your just fine :) Just one of those hormonal things that happens to us time to time.
Hope this answers your question, and thanks for writing :)
