QuestionAt my 20 week ultrasound I was infomed that my baby was measuring a week behind. My due date is accurate (early ultrasounds confirmed date). Should I be concerned? My first child was born 8 lbs. 1 oz. and measured exact throughout the pregnancy. My ob has recommended a second ultrasound in 4 weeks. 4 weeks seems very far from now. I would appreciate your thoughts/opinions. FYI - I also had a cerclage placed at 14 weeks due to an incompetent cervix.
Thanks!
AnswerHi Tammy :)
This happens quitem frequently. Please dont let it worry you. Quite often, the baby catches up ( thats why the doctor said to wait a month). Or, it might just be possible that the baby is a little small. But if they are saying its a week behind, thats really no cause for serious concern at all.
If the baby was terribly behind in its growth, then perhaps it would take further investigation to see why.
Let me tell you, that if there were any serious concern here, Your doctor would definately not be waiting 4 weeks.
Like all children, including babies, and fetus's they grow at their own rate. Some are a little slower then others, and some are faster. But usually, they all catch up, where they are susposed to be.
So please dont have concern. If the issue is on a week, then its nothing serious at all :)
Hope this is of some help ..:)
