QuestionI am currently in my 8th week of pregnancy. The last three days, I have had a pain in my right buttock that goes down my leg. I notice it most after working on my feet all day at work. Could this be sciatica? I thought I was too early to have these kind of symptoms.
AnswerHi Sandy :)
I also have suffered from siatica and I know its extremely uncomfortable. I used to freeze, and not be able to take a step, it hurt that bad!
It is a little early, to think that this would develop, souly because you are 8 weeks pregnant. However, I think its more possible you could have had it mildly before, and the pregnancy could perhaps just be aggravating it even more so now.
Your symptoms certainly do sound like siatica. I described it like an lightening bolt hitting me in the butt, forcing me almost to freeze ..lol Certainly not fun.
There isnt really much you can do in a case like this. This is inflamation if the sciatica nerve. You can take tylonol, safetly however I am not so sure that it will even have affect on that kind of pain when it comes into play.
The best advice I can give you, is to get a good pair of shoes, that have full support. Shoes, do influence your posture, and can take pressure off of some sensative area's through out your legs. It was advised to me to do that from my family physician, and I did find it did infact decrease my symptoms.
Hope this is of some help, and thanks for writing.
