Excessive Thirst, Frequent Urination & Unusual Taste: Possible Diabetes Symptoms?

Hi,
 For the past week or so, I have been thirstier than usual, so I have been drinking more water. Typically I drink 1-2 Liters a day, but today I drank 6 liters. As a result of this my urine is typically clear colored. Aside from the increased thirst, I have noticed that I have to urinate more often than I normally do. Typically I don't feel the urge to go as often as I do recently. I also have noticed a strange taste in my mouth, a mix between a bitter and metallic taste. This taste comes and goes throughout the day, but a trace of it is always there.

 I have been on Biaxin for the past ten days for Strep Throat, along with Advair for asthma symptoms. I checked the side effects of each medicine, and none of my symptoms are mentioned.

  I don't want to overreact and assume I have diabetes insipidus, but I know my symptoms are similar. Could you tell if these symptoms are typical of someone with these disease, and how long should I wait for these symptoms to persist before seeing my doctor? Could these symptoms be a result of another ailment, side effects, or something more? I am a 16 year old female, and if you have any other questions that might help me get an answer, feel free to ask.

the bitter metallic taste is the biaxin.....  

this could be DI or could be DM or could be a side effect of the medicines, especially if they have you on oral steroids also.     You have to get over this strep/bronchitis, etc before you can make a call on whether DI is present first... if you are better and off biaxin, then it is time to get evaluated.
