AnswerHi Tracy :)
I absolutely agree with you. All to many times, I have personally seen ladies being told that their pregnancies are not viable, myself included when I was pregnant with my daughter. Some of those pregnancies, were terminated, and others ended up resulting in healthy babies. Doctors, are not Gods, and do make mistakes. I agree with you completely. Even though the diagnoses is that your pregnancy is blighted(empty sac), I think I would get a second opinion, from another physician. I am in no way saying that your doctor right now is a bad one, however, it would be much more accepting to have the same diagnoses from another physician, or sonogram technologist.
I was told the same thing when I was expecting my daughter. Infact, they said that I wasnt pregnant anymore, and that my body disharged the fetus. However, I wouldnt accept this diagnoses, basically because instinct told me otherwise. And thankgod, I listened to my innervoice. Because 9 months later, I delivered a healthy baby girl.
Often, when pregnancies are blighted, molar, or even chemical, the HCG level will keep rising, even if the pregnancy is not viable. Within time, the body will absolutely realize that something is wrong pregnancy, and will abort the pregnancy. When will this happen? It depends on the woman. Some women wait longer then others before they see the symptoms of miscarriage. However, its inevitable. If the pregnancy is not normal, you will miscarry, eventually. Often when the diagnoses is conclusive, doctors will offter to give their patients a DNC, just to make it easier for the woman in question.
I hope this answers your question, and if you have any more concerns, or questions please dont hesitate to write back. I will keep my fingers crossed, that this pregnancy you are carrying, is indeed viable.
All the best,
-Kristy
