Question
hello I am currently 8 1/2 weeks pregnant went for a u/s days ago the dr said baby was measuring on schedule with dates heart rate was between 169-173 but he informed me that he was concerned because i had a large gestational sac he didn't explain and when i asked is this anything to be concerned about he said possibly what kind of ans is that? can you give me any relief as i am so worried not knowing i don't go for anther u/s until next week.pls help

Answer
A gestational sac larger than normal can be a sign of excess fluid inside the sac. But it is too early to say weather this is just a one time anomaly or is there some problem with the baby. Also remember that USG is very much operator dependent and therefore not 100% accurate. Therefore in my opinion it is best to wait and undertake another scan between 14-16 weeks to rule out any problem with the baby. I understand your concerns and would like to give you a concrete answer. But the nature of pregnancy in the first trimester precludes me from giving you a concrete answer. Anyways do not fret about it. I hope and pray that your baby should be fine. Feel free to ask me any further clarification if required.
