Understanding Rapid hCG Growth in Early Pregnancy

I'm currently 6 wks, 1 day pregnant (by LMP).  Last Friday (5 wks 4 days) I had a quant hcg come up 863, and 72 hours later, it was 5000.  Are jumps that high normal/healthy?  I miscarried twice this year already, so I'm a bit apprehensive about anything that might be abnormal.

Dear Jennifer,

There is a very large variance in the "normal" range for hCG levels. For 5 weeks, the normal range is 19 - 7,340. For 6 weeks, it is 1,080 - 56,500.

So - this really is nothing to worry about. You'd have more to be concerned about if levels were falling.
