QuestionMy daughter is 25 and this is her first child. She is at the end of her third month of pregnancy. She was experiencing more than just morning and evening sickness and was prescribed Zofran, which helped tremedously.
Unfortunatly she no longer has the medical coverage that covers meds and the pills are about $25 per pill and also needed to switch doctors. She is currently waiting for an appt with a doctor but in the interim needs your assistance.
What can she take that is affordable but will help her. Just an FYI, we are already following the to do's for morning sickness without any relief. I saw anti-nausea meds in the drug store, heard that anti-motion sickness meds would help, but are, of course, hesitant to try these.
Thanking you in advance.
AnswerOther than avoiding dairy products, greasy foods, fatty foods, spicy foods, and eating many tiny meals rather than heavy meals, there is nothing to do but wait until the nausea will miraculously disappear at around 15-16 weeks gestation. The only medication that has shown promise in the treatment of Hyperemesis gravidarum is Zofran. Try to continue using Zofran, even if it is expensive. I would not recommend use of anti-motion sickness medications such as Benadryl.Of course, continue to eat only crackers and ginger ale if nothing else will stay down.
