Question
hi kristy! its me again. and now its confirm that im pregnant. im going to see my doctor tomorrow. could you please give me some tips what to ask my doctor?
do you think it will be safe to have sex during the pregnancy? thanks.
AnswerCONGRADULATIONS IRENE!!!!!!!!!
I am absolutely thrilled for you!!! What a wonderful christmas present for you and your husband :) But I must say, I am not surprised that your pregnancy was indeed a confirmed postive :) All the tell take signs were pretty apparent :)
Well Irene, its essential that you be on prenatel vitamins, if you arent already. So its a must, that you start taking them immediately.
Perhaps speak to your doctor about extra suppliments of folic acid. Its not always neccesary for to take extra, but for some older ladies, or ladies that perhaps could be at higher risk for defects, folic acid can greatly reduce the risks of defects. I am in no way saying you are old ..I dont know how old you are, but if you are over 35, it is generally reccomended. But that is something your doctor will advise, if deemed neccesary. So perhaps asking him if this is something you should do, would be a good idea.
You are able to live life as you did before getting pregnant Irene. Sex, and other activites are all safe during your pregnancy. But in some cases where a lady might have an incompetant cervix, or a history of miscarriage, it may be advised against any sexual activity, or excercise. But, you dont have these issues, so you should live your life as you did. Just remember, to try and not take caffiene, or to much sugar. All though its tough, especially if you begin cravings for sweet things.
But drinking lots of fluids, and eating fibre is always reccomended, as well as alot of green, and yellow veggies ( they carry folic acid in the natural state).
As for questions for your doctor, ask to see when you can have a sonogram, just to determine exact gestational age. (Dont forget to ask for a picture, for a keepsake!) I dont know how old you are, but if you are over 35, you might want to discuss the risks that could be involved, and what good prevention measures you can take.
You will also probably in the next couple of weeks, feel the onset of some pregnancy symptoms that can be alarming. So discuss the changes that could happen, so if you notice anything different, it wont be alarming. There are MANY symptoms, and changes that may occur, so perhaps discussing that will prepare you. If you wish to get indepth with me about that, just say the word, I will gladly give you explanation on that.
Other then that, at this stage of pregnancy thats really about it.
I am absolutely thrilled for you, and please let me know how you are doing:) I would love to hear from you, and know your progress , the further along in pregnancy you go.
All the Best to you, hubby, and Babyx, over the Holidays!
Kristy
