QuestionI had my IUD removed on the 9th of December had a period on the 10th thru the 12th. My husband and I are trying for #3 and I was wondering how long does it generally take for ovulation to occur. I have been using the ovulation predicator kits and received positives on the 18th and the 19th which were cycle days #9 and #10. I checked my cervix and cervical mucus yesterday and it was eggwhite and very watery but I received a (-) on the OPK. My husband and I bedded on the days I received positives but not yesterday or today. Is there a chance that I had sex in enough time to have conception happen?
AnswerHi Sherri :)
Ovualtion in women can happen anytime generally between day 10-20 of a womans cycle. Typically its day 14, but its not the general rule for all women. You are proof of that, since you ovulated on day 9, and 10.
You absolutely without a doubt can get pregnant in your situation here. You said that you were active on the days that you had a positive result. So yes, you absolutely had intercourse on time.
Even though you didnt have intercourse yesterday, or today, its important to know that your husbands sperm will live for 3-4 days in your body, looking to fertilize your egg. So, most likely you actually still right now have active sperm in your body, from the activity you had on the 19th.
So Sherri, all you can do is wait and see if you get your period. I hope that you get that positive result!
All the best to you, and your husband and family over the Holidays!
Thanks for writing!
