Pubic Bone Pain After Delivery: Causes, Relief & Recovery
QuestionHello and thank you for your time!!! I gave birth 2 months ago. It was a difficult delivery. Baby was transverse and was too big. Doc finally got baby turned correctly however I ended up with a 4th degree episotomy. That has healed beautifully, however starting about 3 weeks after delivery I began to get this pain in my pubic bone. It always goes away if I stand up and walk around. Usually starts to hurt when I have been lying or sitting for more than an hour or so. It wakes me up EVERY night. I can manage the pain by walking around for a few minutes and taking tylenol but it is very annoying to be awakened by this every night. I had no pubic bone pain during my pregnancy. The pain is a throbbing one that seems to start at the point directly above my vagina and radiates down the sides of my vagina. I guess my question is, will this go away on its own? If so, how long will it take? If not, what kind of treatment should I be getting? This is a wonderful service and I truly appreciate you volunteering. Thanks again!!
AnswerLaura,
Thanks for the nice words. I think this is a great question for your OB doctor. I don't know why you would be having pain that wakes you up every night. Sorry I can't help you more, but your doctor really would be better to ask. Good luck and congratulations on the baby!
