Why Isn't Pain Medication Working? Understanding Tolerance & Metabolism

 I am curious if you know the answer to my question.  It seems my mother and I are both "tolerant" of pain medication i.e. Vicodin,etc.  Neither of us do drugs, and I am just curious to see why even Perquiset (sp?)does not do anything at all.

Hi Derin,
Some people metabolize drugs faster than others. When this happens the therapeutic effects are minimal and it takes larger doses to achieve the same result others receive at lower ones. Sometimes interactions with other medicines will decrease effectiveness as well.
