QuestionI am the 40 year old woman who wrote to you on 12/9. It was Thursday, when I last wrote to you I believe. On Friday when I called the Dr's office and told them of the swollen feet/legs and pain so extreme, quite honestly the best way I could describe it is I wanted to scream only I was scared to death that any movement would increase my pain. Finally nurse says come into office that Friday, they send me for intra/vaginal ultrasound, where I am told I still have products of reproduction left in me. I have another D&C saturday, I believe the 10th. On the 10th, 11th, 12th, very light bleeding, but here again I just woke up with cramps again, like my period cramps/I must add that my cramps are usually pretty bad on the 2/3rd days. So I am frightened that this is starting all over again, and I am again afraid of being perhaps a hypochondriac. Last time I waited due to this fear. Is having cramps, and bright red medium like flow normal on the 3rd day? Normal after 2nd D&C? I was just wracked with pain last week and don't want a repeat performance, but I don't want to overreact either. I can't thank you enough for answering me, I thought I would get an email from you, I didn't know I had to come back to the site, if I wasn't looking up more info on if this was normal/what is normal bleeding after a D&C I would of missed your answer. AnswerIt is common to have some cramping and bleeding for up to a week after a D&C. HOwever, if you have bright red bleeding and severe pain, you will need another sonogram to make sure that no products remain in your uterus. If the sonogram is negative, you can wait. I would suggest that you ask for some pain medication such as Percocet, which should alleviate the discomfort. Don't wait. Call your doctor WHENEVER you want. Try speaking to the doctor directly and describe your symptoms. I don't know how this site works in getting the answers to people. I merely get the questions, and write an answer. Then I click and my response disappears. I assume they get it to the questioner.
