QuestionHi Doctor. Thanks so much for taking the time to answer my question. I realize this isn't quite your area of expertise, but there seems to be no available pain management specialists on hand. Here goes: Can I mix cataflam and hydrocodone-apap to treat severe dental pain? My dentist indicated that he didn't think this would be a problem, but I'd like to make sure. Thank you!
Answerpain management actually is my area.... and dental pain is the "gold standard" on testing meds for pain control. You will never 100% relieve pain so it is a good model to see what works pretty good.
Cataflam (diclofenac) comes in many many forms.... it is a good "motrin like drug" a NSAID, that is a little easier on the stomach than advil or alleve. It is typically dosed 50 mg every 8 hours. The downside is getting heartburn from it (or stomach bleeding if the heartburn is ignored)
Hydrocodone/tylenol is an opiate/narcotic painkiller. it works differently than Cataflam snd they can be used together.
That is the long answer to the question... yes they can be mixed. Your goal should be "to get by", not for complete pain relief... severe dental pain is tough.
