Postpartum Pain Relief: Causes, Solutions & When to Seek Help

Question
Hi. I have a four week old baby. I had to go back to work two weeks after giving birth. I already have pelvic and anal pain, especially when I use the bathroom, it hurts. I notice that the pain also intensifies after three hours of working. I am on my feet alot. But it hurts to even walk after a while. I cancelled my six week check up, I really dont want to go to the doctor. I have a history of ovarian cyst and I do have hemorrhoids. Why am I in pain? What should I do?

Answer
You are experiencing an unusual amount of pain, as well as a variety of symptoms that need to be checked out by your OBGYN. I can understand why you don't want to go to the doctor, but in your case it would be much better to know what's going on, and receive appropriate therapy, then to try and tough it out.

The postpartum period is not a time to ignore symptoms.
