Inner Thigh Pain After Childbirth: Causes & Relief

Question
I gave birth to my third child 5 weeks ago.  Unlike my first two natural births, I used an epidural this time.  Everything has been going smoothly until two weeks ago when I was breastfeeding at dawn.  I went to get back in bed and I had a sudden pain in my inner thigh as if a nerve had suddenly been pinched.  I left if for a few days to heal on its own but the pain was consistent getting worse after I had rested it.  Not only is it painful, my leg also feels week as I am walking and I can't walk without a limp.  I went to the doctor to get it check and an X-ray revealed nothing.  I was sent home with anti-inflammatory pills.  A week later and it doesn't feel like it is getting any better.   Can anyone tell me what has happened to me and how to get rid of this pain?

Thank you.

Answer
Pelvic instability after pregnancy is common, and might be the source of your pain. Pregnancy hormones soften ligaments of the pelvis, so that the pelvic outlet can expand during delivery.

Your symptoms: severe onset pain, weakness, limping, all point to nerve impingement, most likely in your lower lumbar spine, or possibly from misalignment of your sacroiliac joint.
